Donate Packaging Materials

  • Before dropping off packaging, please read our “How To” guide to ensure a smooth drop-off.

  • Please have all of your items sorted + folded neatly by type so that our volunteers can quickly look through them.

  • Larger drop-offs will take longer to look through - please be patient.

  • We cannot and will not accept items that are dirty, sticky, or torn, items that have excess tape on them, items that have an odor (smoke, perfume, soap, etc), or boxes that have holes or ones that are dirty.

Suggested donation

Our work depends on donations. Please consider donating $5 for a small drop-off, $10 for a medium drop-off, and $20 for a large drop-off. Our donation link can be found HERE. Thank you!

    NO thick (>1/4”) pieces of foam. We do not have the capacity for those pieces.

  • Inflated plastic air pillows accepted for packaging reuse

    Must be inflated. Deflated air pillows will not be accepted and can be dropped off at a grocery store plastic bag recycling box.

  • Jewelry bags accepted for donation

    Jewelry Bags

    All sizes of jewelry bags accepted.

    Branded, unbranded, organza, velvet, and cloth are accepted. Designs are okay (e.g. stars, polka dots, etc.).

    Please check each bag and wash it if necessary.

  • Branded and unbranded jewelry gift boxes accepted for reuse

    Branded and unbranded are accepted.

    Jewelry boxes must be in very good condition. Please, no chocolate boxes.

  • Donate brand new cardstock paper

    New cardstock in any color is accepted.

  • Printer Paper

    Brand new printer paper is accepted. We will take unopened and opened packs.

  • Donate newspaper

    Newspaper

    Newspaper must be neatly folded before dropping off. We will not accept any paper that is balled up.

  • Gently used tissue paper accepted for donation

    Tissue Paper

    Tissue paper must be gently used or brand new. All colors are accepted. We will not accept tissue paper with holes or branding.

  • Donate new or used tape

    Tape

    All types of tape is now accepted. We will take brand new or used rolls.

  • Tape Dispensers

    No desk dispensers for small rolls of tape. Tape dispensers must fit large packaging tape rolls.

    We will accept heavy duty and tape guns as well.

  • Automatic Tape Dispensers

    Manual and electronic accepted. Must be in working condition.

  • Paper grocery bags in good condition accepted for reuse

    All sizes accepted, with or without handles.

    Bags must be in very good condition. If they are torn or dirty, we encourage composting or recycling them.

  • Donate reusable bags

    Bags must be washed before donating. All sizes and materials accepted. They my be clean and reusable.

  • Clean reusable thermal grocery bags, donated to a local CSA service

    No holes or stains. Each bag must be washed and wiped down before dropping off.

  • Clean moving blankets accepted for donation and reuse

    Moving Blankets

    All moving blankets must be clean and free of debris, pet hair, and holes. We will not accept any blankets that have a strong odor.

  • Moving Labels

    Fragile stickers, Caution Heavy, and moving labels (tag-a-room) are accepted. Stickers sheets don’t have to be full.

  • Thermal Shipping Labels

    Any brand accepted. Please provide label telling us which label printer they are compatible with.

  • Thermal Label Printers

    All brands. Must be in working condition.

  • Digital Postal Scales

    All sizes, all brands. We will accept industrial scales as well. Must be in working condition.

  • Black Sharpies

    Must be brand new or still in working condition. EcoShip will be using these for our pack and ship station.

  • Flattened cardboard boxes 12 inches and larger, accepted for reuse in Chicago

    Totes MUST have lids and be wiped clean. No cracks or missing handles.

    Done using your plastic totes for storage or moving? Drop them off with us so that someone else can reuse them.

    All colors are accepted. Crates must be clean and in very good condition.

  • ClimaCell insulated box liners accepted for donation

    ClimaCell & Renew Liners

    All types of liners are accepted as long as they are encased in paper or plastic. If your liner is full of holes and the material is coming out, please do not drop it off with us as it makes a mess.

  • Clean number 6 Styrofoam packaging, accepted for a recycling fee at EcoShip Chicago

    Pieces must be clean and have the recycling symbol #6 on them.
