Our Mission

EcoShip collects your gently used shipping materials and gives them to individuals and businesses to reuse.

EcoShip Chicago is a community based non-profit aimed at combating waste and promoting sustainable business practices. We want to connect local communities and businesses in a way that is not only beneficial for all, but also healthy for our planet.

Collection

Gently used shipping materials are collected through “Collection Points” and Collection Events. If you have more than 1 large garbage bag of materials and cannot make it to a collection event, please drop your items off at our storage unit in Avondale using this link. Drop-off points will not accept large quantities. For more information on which materials are accepted, visit the Donate page.

Sorting

After the shipping materials are collected, they are sorted into bundles. With the help of volunteers, any unusable materials are weeded out and responsibly disposed of. Volunteer events are an excellent way to get involved with EcoShip. Whether you are a donor who wants to contribute a little more, or a business that would like first dibs on materials, the help is appreciated. Volunteer events are currently a monthly event. For volunteer event dates, check out our Calendar page.

Distribution

All gently used shipping materials are available for free. To receive materials please carefully complete an order form. Once an order form is completed and a pickup date and time selected, your materials will be individually bundled for you. For more information on what we have to offer and how to get them, visit our Marketplace.

Partnership
